Vertigo

Vertigo Release Details & Contest

Nine days and counting.

  • As I announced a few weeks ago, Vertigo will be available on Thursday, September 25th. Links to sales pages will be available here, with updates as soon as I have new links.
  • The ebook version will be an Amazon exclusive, at least for the first 90 days. Kindle Unlimited has put Starshine in the hands of 3x more readers in the last two months than B&N, iTunes, Google Play and Kobo did combined in four months, and I can't pass up that opportunity for Vertigo. The paperback isn't affected, and in short order will be available at online booksellers worldwide.
  • I'm giving away signed paperbacks of Vertigo and Starshine! See the new blog post for contest details.
  • In celebration of the release of Vertigo, Starshine is on sale for $0.99 now through October 6th. Tell your friends who have been on the fence they can now read it for pennies.

Contest! Win Signed Paperbacks of Starshine and Vertigo

Contest! Win Signed Paperbacks of Starshine and Vertigo

In my last blog post, I mentioned there were Easter eggs (subtle nods or homages to geek/literary/pop culture) in both Starshine and Vertigo. I’m running a giveaway over on Goodreads for a couple of Vertigo paperbacks, but I wanted to reward you guys specifically, because you’re awesome for coming to the website and following me on this adventure. So I came up with a little contest which hopefully will be fun for everyone. Here’s how it's going to work:

Vertigo Release Date

I'm thrilled to announce that Vertigo will be released on September 25, 2014!

That is all.

~

P.S.: Also, the website has been doused in lavender paint, and Vertigo now has a splash page and a quotes page. It also has a Goodreads page. Okay, that really is all.

Behind the Scenes with VERTIGO

Behind the Scenes with VERTIGO

If you’ve been around here for a while, you’ll remember that as Starshine neared completion I began posting little excerpts from it every couple of weeks. I haven’t done so with Vertigo, primarily because all the excerpts are spoilers. All of them. I mean it. I do hope to start releasing some quotes in the coming weeks, which are too short to be spoilers. Right?

(As an aside, one edit made last week was at the urging of my husband, who said, “This is the actual book, you are supposed to spoil them!”)

To try and make up for my overly secretive and neurotic fear of revealing too much too soon to you guys, I thought I would share some other details about Vertigo, both fun and legit.

Exciting Vertigo News & Starshine Sale

You know how the teaser for Vertigo at the end of Starshine says "Coming Next Winter"? Is October 'winter' by chance?

  • So Vertigo is going very well. It's been edited about five times, and as of yesterday is off to some awesome people for review. Katie, Jules, Mark, Anne, Carole, EJ, Claire, a million 'thank you's!
  • With all the standard caveats, I'm tentatively eyeing an October 8th, 2014 release date; if the next month goes spectacularly, perhaps even as early as the end of September. Stay tuned.
    • [EDIT:] September 25th looks good to me!
  • Those progress meters over on the right have been updated to reflect the book's 'mostly complete' status. Before too long you're going to see a Transcendence word meter show up over there as well - because I have learned the hard way that it is far easier to just keep writing than to stop writing and begin again!

Kindle Unlimited & Other News

Look out, I'm in a wacky mood this week (see the new blog post for proof). Must be all the summer sunshine....

  • Starshine is now available in the shiny new Kindle Unlimited. It's a subscription service Amazon launched last week, more or less a Netflix/Spotify for books. For $9.99/month, you can read as many books as you can manage from a selection of over 600K books in the program.

  • Participation requires Amazon digital exclusivity for 90 days, so that means the number of retailers carrying the Starshine ebook has shrunk a bit. It doesn't affect paperback distribution, and you don't need a Kindle device to read the ebookKindle apps are available for virtually all mobile devices, PC, Mac and the cloud.

  • The internet writing world is all aflutter over the Amazon/Hachette dispute and now Kindle Unlimited. You can read my thoughts on these important philosophical issues in a new blog post: Amazon, Hachette, Kindle Unlimi Oh, Who Am I Kidding?. You really, truly want to. Trust me.
