Stars & Empire 2, Plus An Exclusive Aurora Rising Short Story

Transcendence progress ground to a screeching halt last week for an epic drive across most of the United States (twice), but now I am back in the thick of it. Lots of news to share.

  • I'm thrilled to announce that Starshine has been included in the newly-released anthology Stars & Empire 2: 10 More Galactic Tales. Better yet, it's available at the unbelievable price of $0.99.
  • Stars & Empire 2 includes the first entries in some of the most popular and highest rated space opera and military sci-fi series of the last two years. I'm honored to be included alongside such highly-regarded authors as Endi Webb, Raymond L. Weil, Jay Allan, Edward W. Robertson, Jasper T. Scott, Autumn Kalquist, Nathan Lowell, Chris Reher and Isaac Hooke - and excited at the prospect of putting Starshine into the hands of so many new readers.
  • To sweeten the deal, Stars & Empire 2 includes an EXCLUSIVE Aurora Rising short story: RESTLESS. It takes place 8 years prior to the events of Starshine, and offers a glimpse at both Alex and Caleb while they were still becoming the characters we know and (hopefully) love.

Reddit AMA & Audiobook News

Has it really been a month since Vertigo launched? Wow. Thank you all so much for helping to make it a success! On that note:

  • Vertigo is having a Countdown Sale on Amazon right now, and is available for the practically-free $0.99 for the next 2 days. After that the price goes up every 2 days for the next week, so grab it (or tell your friends to grab it) now.
  • I am excited to announce I've been asked to do an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit next Tuesday, October 28th: Upcoming AMA: Sci-Fi Author G. S. Jennsen
    • If you're not familiar with AMAs, Reddit users post questions on any topic they like, and unless they are blatantly offensive I'm morally obligated to answer them. If you're not familiar with Reddit, it's the internet's forum of forums, with communities for every topic imaginable (over 8,000) and over 170 million visitors last month alone (I'm not expecting that many to visit my AMA).

If you're a Reddit user, I invite you to come by next Tuesday to /r/suggestmeabook and pick my brain (and keep me company). If you're not, feel free to post a question in the comments to this post, and I'll try to get it included. Also, you don't have to be a Reddit user to eavesdrop.

Vertigo Is Live

Don't let me get in the way of the links:

  • Vertigo is available for purchase in eBook and paperback on Amazon.com. Links to Amazon's international sites can be found here. The links on this page will grow as more sites become available.
  • If you don't have a Kindle, not to worry. Kindle apps for iOS, Android, Windows Phone, PC, Mac and the cloud: Kindle Apps.
  • If you're a Goodreads user, the Vertigo page can be found here.
  • I am thrilled beyond measure for everyone to finally be able to read Vertigo, and I truly hope you enjoy it. Of course if you do, don't be shy about it - reviews are the greatest gift you can give, but tweets, posts on Facebook, Google+, Tumblr, Pinterest, your own blogs, and forums are also most welcome.

Vertigo Release Date

I'm thrilled to announce that Vertigo will be released on September 25, 2014!

That is all.

~

P.S.: Also, the website has been doused in lavender paint, and Vertigo now has a splash page and a quotes page. It also has a Goodreads page. Okay, that really is all.

Exciting Vertigo News & Starshine Sale

You know how the teaser for Vertigo at the end of Starshine says "Coming Next Winter"? Is October 'winter' by chance?

  • So Vertigo is going very well. It's been edited about five times, and as of yesterday is off to some awesome people for review. Katie, Jules, Mark, Anne, Carole, EJ, Claire, a million 'thank you's!
  • With all the standard caveats, I'm tentatively eyeing an October 8th, 2014 release date; if the next month goes spectacularly, perhaps even as early as the end of September. Stay tuned.
    • [EDIT:] September 25th looks good to me!
  • Those progress meters over on the right have been updated to reflect the book's 'mostly complete' status. Before too long you're going to see a Transcendence word meter show up over there as well - because I have learned the hard way that it is far easier to just keep writing than to stop writing and begin again!

Wednesday, April 16, 2014

I'm now balancing writing Vertigo with promoting Starshine, but I still find myself stopping short several times a day in amazement at and thankfulness for how well the novel is performing and the wonderful thoughts people have shared about it, publicly and privately.

  • 3 weeks after release, Starshine remains in Amazon's Top 10 Sci-Fi and Top 5 Space Opera and Sci-Fi - Adventure Hot New Releases (with several stints at #1 in Adventure). It's a Top 10 Space Opera Bestseller and Top 5 in several sci-fi subcategories. Perhaps most importantly, it holds a 4.9 star rating on both Amazon and GoodReads with more than 20 fantastic reviews. Keep them coming!

    • I've added a page to the website with Review Highlights - mostly for newcomers, but you are welcome to peruse it :)
