FORGED FROM THE STARS Announcement & Cover Reveal

FORGED FROM THE STARS Announcement & Cover Reveal

What is a perfect idea? FORGED FROM THE STARS is a perfect idea. A perfect collaboration, leading to a perfect title, a perfect tagline and a perfect cover. Inside, a perfect selection of galaxy-spanning epic science fiction featuring…not quite perfect heroines. They may have a few flaws here and there—flaws more than made up for with spirit, determination and a generous sprinkling of audaciousness. Damsels in distress, they are not.

FORGED FROM THE STARS is an upcoming collection featuring the first novels in three science fiction series: Ziva PayvanSpectras Arise and Aurora RisingSTARSHINE, you’ve probably heard of. I'm thrilled to have it included alongside books by two amazing women who are blazing their own trails in the independent publishing world, Dakiti: Ziva Payvan Book One by EJ Fisch and Contract of Defiance: Spectras Arise Book One by Tammy Salyer, plus a groovy foreword from irreverent writer, reviewer and wordsmith S.E. Lehenbauer.

Galaxy Chronicles / Crime & Punishment Now Available

Happy Monday-After-Thanksgiving to my American readers! (I know, it's a bummer.) To everyone, welcome to December and the plethora of holidays it brings.

Allow me to say (with some authority) that what your holidays need is more space opera, speculative fiction and, above all, more books.

  • The Galaxy Chronicles is now available in ebook on Amazon. Paperbacks will follow in the next few weeks. Along with 11 other epic stories from some of today's best sci-fi authors, The Galaxy Chronicles includes my short story, Apogee. It tells the story of the opening hours of the 1st Crux War between the Earth Alliance and the Senecan Federation, as lived by the Senecans who started it. If you've had a chance to read Sidespace, there are several cryptic references to these events; read Apogee and discover the truth.

Sidespace Is Live

I am extremely excited to bring you SIDESPACE: Aurora Renegades Book One. It's the start of a new adventure for Alex, Caleb and everyone in Aurora, and we get to go along for the ride.

  • Sidespace is available in ebook and paperback on Amazon.com. Live outside the U.S.? This link will take you to the book on your Amazon International site.
  • Don't have a Kindle but prefer ebooks to paperbacks? Kindle apps for your tablet or phone (iOS, Android, Windows Phone), PC, Mac and the cloud can be downloaded here: Kindle Apps. If you read ebooks on something other than a Kindle or Kindle app, please send me an email.
  • I can't wait for everyone to read Sidespace, and I truly hope you enjoy it. Of course if you do, don't be shy about it! Reviews are the greatest gift you can give, but posts on Twitter, Facebook or other social media sites, your own blogs, and forums are also most welcome.

Win a SIDESPACE Paperback, Plus Go Behind The Scenes

It's one week until the release of SIDESPACE, and to celebrate, I'm giving away 5 copies of the paperback (with the help of Goodreads). The contest ends next Tuesday, and you can enter here or via the widget at the end of this post.

More Sidespace news:

  • Not surprisingly, it has a Goodreads page! Add it to your "Want to Read" shelf, vote for it on lists, like the quotes, all that jazz.
  • I'm thrilled to report that Pyper Down has signed on to do the audiobook :). It won't be available immediately, but it IS coming.
  • New blog post today: Behind the Scenes with Sidespace. Trivia, sneak peaks, humor and tattoos(!) abound, so check it out.

Short-story anthology news:

  • I've got an awesome cover reveal for Crime & Punishment:

Sidespace Release Date, Excerpts and More

SIDESPACE (Aurora Renegades Book One) will be released and in your hands on NOVEMBER 9, 2015. Otherwise known as one month from today.

  • As that date draws closer I'll have various fun promotions and the like to announce, including a Goodreads paperback giveaway, a string of teaser quotes, a "behind the scenes" blog post, sales on the Aurora Rising books and a Sidespace-themed makeover of the website and social media pages. To kick things off today, I'm excited to share the back-cover blurb for Sidespace.

Starshine (you remember it, right?) had a very good September - and since you all are on this ride together with me, I thought you might like to hear about it....

  • First off, tremendous thanks to S. E. Lehenbauer at Novel Commentary for her drop-dead fabulous review of Starshine. It's as if she knew tossing in all the Firefly references (including calling Alex a "damn shiny pilot") would have me shedding tears of joy even without saying it "might be the perfect set-in-space science fiction book."

Sidespace Update, Anthology Release Dates and the Concept Art of Aurora Rising

It's been a little while - I know, I know. But you were all spending your summer outside, sunbathing and hiking and gardening, right? (Unless you live in Australia, in which case, snow!) But now fall is upon us, and there is news:

  • I'll now have two Aurora short stories appearing in upcoming anthologies. The release date for The Galaxy Chronicles is November 15, 2015. My contribution, APOGEE, tells the story of the opening hours of the 1st Crux War between the Earth Alliance and the Senecan Federation, as lived by the Senecans who started it. You can read an excerpt from Apogee here, and see all the outstanding books in The Future Chronicles series here. In particular, check out the new Immortality Chronicles - proceeds go to charity.

I'm also contributing a story to the upcoming Crime and Punishment anthology, a follow-on to the terrific No Way Home. My short, titled SOLATIUM, takes place 12 years before the events of Starshine, features two characters from Aurora Rising...and that's all I can tell you. Crime and Punishment is expected to be released in mid-to-late October.
