The Universe Within takes place three years after the end of Duality(and concurrently with both Medusa Falling and The Thief). Like the other Cosmic Shores novels, it is a stand-alone story and a great entry point for new readers - but it’s also more closely tied in to the Amaranthe meta story arc than the first two books were (it’s Alex and Caleb - how could it not be?).
